Hunting Her eyes sparkled, her coat glistened And her every breath was laboured She wanted to stop She had to stop, but she couldn’t Hunger was her master And her master needed fed With every paw that touched the ground With every breath taken She was getting closer to her prey Soon, she would satisfy her master She dug so deep With her last reserves For one final push One last pounce, It was hers for the taking The claws hugged tightly to the hips And the teeth sunk into the quarters Her master could taste the blood Now he wanted more As she brought her prey to the ground To its final resting place Her jaws clenched on the warm tender meat, And she ripped and she tore The flesh from its bones Not one scrap would her master leave Her tongue lapped at the blood Her teeth crushed the bones So her lips could suck The very marrow from them Now sleep was calling out her name Another master she had to obey But this one came easier, Sleep was a release Sleep was a pleasure So she found a wooded over-hang Something to keep her safe She fluffed her coat and closed her eyes And as a gentle breeze whispered in her ears Both her masters fell asleep.
