The fear courses through my veins
setting each single nerve on fire,
Heightening all of my senses
and bringing things much clearer.
Sitting here on the side of the road
with those lights flashing behind me,
I await the approachof the co
to ask for insurance and registration.
Pulled over on my way to work
when already I was running late,
Stopped for making a stupid mistake
in my rush to get to work on time.
The goosebumps in my body intensify
when I realize I am early instead,
Trembling I sit and wait for her return
and the verdict of what will happen.
In relief I park the vehicle nearby
and begin the long walk home,
Without a license, I can't move the van
which means no way to work today.
With a light and semi joyful step
I place each foot in front of the other,
Making my way home in deep thought
of just how lucky I am.
