Today my whole world crashed
and all my hopes and dreams went aflame,
Where yesterday my spirit soared so high
I can now only hang my head in shame.
The promises and words spoken then
have fallen in upon themselves to perish,
Leaving me with naught else but memories
to keep close to my heart and cherish.
Yesterday I could have moved mountains
simply by a smaile and a word from her,
Strengtha nd joy untold were mine aplenty
and nothing had ever seemed more sure.
Yet all good things must come to an end
and most are just a cover for lies,
The joy of the past has fled from me
as my heart, at her words today, slowly dies.
Change comes to each and every living thing
yet who knew that it would come so very fast,
For yesterday all seemed golden and pure
while today those dreams are simply the past.
Too long have I lived on dreams and hopes
simply to have them smashed and tossed away,
Somehow I must continue to make the past, today
or else move on to tomorrow, in some way.
