I was born from a union of love between my mother and my father, A love that took them places they had never dreamed. Day after day as I grew I watched their love stay true, When so many others slowly grew less and less.
I remember those days at school when I could always hear them, In the stands as I ran track or cheering as I ran in a touchdown. Those days in college when things were so tight, Never a frown or a lecture as they helped me get through.
So many years have passed and now I am a father too, Looking back I realize that I took so much for granted. So many things they did and so much they gave up, All so that I could get ahead and lead a full life.
My mother is no longer here for me to tell her thanks, So I sit at her grave and pour out my heart. I talk and I pray knowing she can hear, Letting her know how I feel and the love I have.
My father has been a rock steady, strong, and true, Always there when I need even if it is just some advice. I can never repay him for all that he has done, Nor can I ever give enough love to even come close.
Take this time my dear friends and let those in your life know, All that they mean to you and all that you feel for them. Be like me and my father and share all that you can, For they shall always love you so love them in return.
