Covered
covered my heart with a guard
afraid to allow it to break again
locked emotions up real tight
ignoring them for awhile

then here he comes into my life
just being the person he knows best
without warning stole my heart
left me speechless and off guard

now i feel free to love again
give my life freely to him
knowing he will treat it with care
respecting my emotions in all he does

i feel happiness build within
each word he speaks sends chills
only question i repeat over and over
is why did i wait so long
