The Rain
Silence pierces through the darkness
And scurrying life rustles leaves under foot
Crickets chirp and tree frogs converse
As the wind swells and sweeps across the grass
Clouds move quickly and obscure the moonlight
Fur and feathers rush to shelter
When the damp, fresh smell rises in the air
And the rain begins to fall.
