The past came alive for me the first time I saw you, Memories flooded me and I had to blink them away.
You walked past me not even really looking, Dismissing me offhand without even a word.
Hours and days passed as I fought within, Struggling to separate the past and the now.
Slowly I built up courage and finally spoke to you, Asking yet fearing the answer you might give.
You are not her and she is not you, The news showing me the past and the now.
You awoke a part of me that has been so dormant, Making me smile and laugh when I have been so grey.
I want to thank you for being who you are, Letting me come to terms with the past, and the now!
