It has been a very long time and I give my huge apologies to everyone. Over the next couple of weeks I am going to be updating a huge variety of items on the site. Below is a partial list of items that I am looking at:
Starting on June 1st we will officially
begin the Author of the Quarter. All poems and stories no matter
content will get the Author entered into the running. The details are as
such:
Spring Quarter: March 1st to May 31st
Summer Quarter: June 1st to August 31st
Fall Quarter: September 1st to November 31st
Winter Quarter: December 1st to February 28th
Once the quarter has ended, I will add all Authors who have submitted
at least 1 writing to the site into a poll here, which will remain open
for a period of 2 weeks, allowing all authors and visitors to vote for
who they think was the best Author during the quarter. After the 2 week
period, the poll shall be closed and the top Author chosen shall
receive an award on website naming them the Author of that quarter, also

After all this time, I finally went and created a FaceBook group. If anyone has any ideas on other networking sites they might like to see Amatuer Writers a part of, please feel free to respond and to let me know.
A lot has happened lately and we have new Authors on site and some new writing going on since my last update. Due to a computer malfunction I have lost a lot of the old files I had for the awards and such. Between that and looking back at the awards I have, I have made a decision to completely redo them all. So over the next 48-72 hours I am going to remove and replace ALL awards on the site with newer ones. At this time I will also catch up the most recent ones that I am behind on, plus add in one that I should have done a couple years ago when Amatuer Writers celebrated its 5th Birthday.
Also Awards will only be given to those writers who have actually posted at least 1 writing on the site!
Due to a lot of things going on I did not due Christmas or New Year's images and posts this year and I want to apologize to everyone for that. More updates, and things will be coming here shortly.
Here in the next few days I will opening up a link to a sister site I am creating. This new site is to help spread information and real life stories about homelessness in the world. Little by little I will be adding more and more information to this new site.
For those of you that have been watching and waiting I beg a few more days forgiveness. I completed my move on Monday the 16th, yet am still in the process of settling in and getting a lot of things organized and straightened out. I need to actually hook up my hard drives with all my back-up information, and the awards and such that I have and use. That part of my updates and such will take time, but for those of you authors that are posting things, please feel free to keep them coming and every day I will do my utmost to get online and to review things.

Due to a lot of changes in my own personal life, I have not been here on the site doing the updates and post approvals that I should have been doing these past weeks. I can only apologize to you all and admit that I am only one person. My other admin has not been helping me much as she is busy with other things in her life.
Here in the upcoming days I have a lot more things going on including a move from Canada back into the United States, so I may not be available for a few days during the move. This move takes place on Monday August 16th. For the msot of that week I will have limited or no access online to review and to read things. For this I am truly sorry and I vow to make it up to people as soon as I am able to.
Starting on July 1st, Amatuer Writers will be introducing the Author of the Quarter and Author of the Year categories. Complete details will be available soon on an upcoming page with the site. General basics are as follows.
Author of the Quarter: Quarter 1 - Jan to March Quarter 2 - April to June Quarter 3 - July to Sept Quarter 4 - Oct to Dec
To qualify for the Author of the Quarter, a writer has to have at least one poem or story posted during that particular Quarter. All qualifying authors will be put into a poll which will run for 2 weeks following the end of the Quarter, allowing all site guests and members to vote. With the increase in postings of a variety of writing aspects, I have created a number of new sections and categories, allowing people to post into specific areas. This is in an effort to help separate the adult content, the poetry, the short stories, and the longer chapter writings from each other. I have also added a notification page in the writers section giving more details.
